What is Somatic Competence® Yoga?
-
The first trauma-informed approach in Italy based on the cutting-edge theoretical-clinical model Somatic Competence®, developed by the Institute of Integrated Psychosomatics in more than 25 years of clinical and scientific practice and research .
-
It is not a style of yoga but a trauma-informed approach that not only restores a general sense of well-being, but also trains one to inhabit one's body and increase somato-emotional regulation processes in the whirlwind of the digital age.
-
A yoga practice that aims to stimulate in the practitioner an exploratory attitude of reappropriation of the body through the application of self-reading tools and group sharing.
-
An approach that is constantly evolving thanks to the passionate work of our multidisciplinary team , and supported by the latest international research in yoga, neuroscience, trauma therapy, and clinical psychosomatics.

Why a trauma-informed approach?
On the mat, together with our bodies, we also carry the scars left by more or less profound traumatic experiences.
A “trauma-informed” approach focuses on the mechanisms that support traumatic memories and aims to ensure the construction of new alternative memories to the trauma within a safe space of self-expression .
Somatic Competence® Yoga is an integrated approach that takes into account the delicate body-mind whole in its complexity.

Each practitioner brings to the class not only his or her own body but also his or her own history, including scars.
How to structure a yoga class that takes into account many levels of complexity?
The contemporary world demands of yoga teachers not only technical skills but also knowledge of the neurobiological basis of mind-body interaction, as well as fine tuning interpersonal skills.
The Somatic Competence® Yoga Training School proposes the first Advanced Training Course in Italy dedicated to yoga teachers who want to update their professional training for the contemporary world
