Individual
Paths
A completely personalized and customizable proposal, designed to address each individual's needs, taking into account the complexity of the body-mind system
The individual Somatic Competence® Yoga paths are designed with the goal of:
-
Creating a personalized progression in practice with specific attention to your needs.
-
Learning to recognize the signals of your body, particularly those arising from stressful situations.
-
Learning or refining your understanding of yoga with a focus on internal experiences.
-
Learning effective techniques to modify states of discomfort.
-
Valuing your insights and discoveries alongside the teacher, who acts as a facilitator and witness to the journey.
The individual setting (in person or online) also provides a safe space where you can externalize and verbalize any sensations or emotions that may arise from the practice, sharing them with a trained professional prepared to receive and support these experiences.

This path is suitable for you if...
-
You want to practice yoga in a safe, protected environment with personalized attention to your needs.
-
You wish to familiarize yourself with your body and become aware of your sensations and emotions.
-
You are overcoming trauma and want to support your journey with body-focused work.

What will you find in the lessons?

-
Yoga teachers trained in the effects of psychological and relational trauma on the body and mind.
-
Moments of somatic focusing on bodily sensations.
-
Practices thoughtfully designed according to your needs, using techniques from dynamic yoga, yin yoga, pranayama, meditation, or other disciplines within the teacher's expertise.
-
A space for sharing, dialogue, and interaction, which will always be optional.
-
Welcoming, authenticity, and fun.
Is it therapy through yoga?

No, the role of each Somatic Competence® Yoga Teacher is not to provide diagnosis or therapy, but to support the student in their journey of self-awareness. By doing so, the journey can often have a therapeutic effect, though this is not necessarily the goal.
If requested and of interest, the teacher may suggest referring the student to a psychological professional or creating a multidisciplinary teamwork with a psychotherapist to process any experiences that may arise during the lessons.
what is somatic competence® yoga?
Somatic Competence® Yoga is a trauma-informed approach to yoga that takes into account the complexity of body-mind interactions and accompanies practitioners to refine their knowledge and mastery of their body and emotions.

what does somatic competence® mean?
Somatic Competence, is a clinical construct developed by the Institute of Integrated Psychosomatics over more than 25 years of research. Refining one's somatic competence means learning to listen to the body, observe the sensations that emerge, being able to express them and modify one's internal states to gradually (re)find awareness, orientation and balance. Our intent is to help people train this skill through the practice of yoga.

what is a somatic competence® yoga practice like?
Each practice of Somatic Competence® Yoga is first and foremost the integration of a trauma-informed approach into the method and style of each Somatic Competence® Yoga Teacher. You will be able to find different styles and expressions of yoga, ranging from dynamic flow to yin, from chair yoga to yoga during pregnancy, from mudras to pranayama, from meditation to deep relaxation. What the lessons have in common is the training of somatic competence, bringing attention to one's physical sensations in the here and now, to gradually learn to regulate the state of somato-emotional activation.
